Salt

Yesterday Pastor Troy's message focused on being the salt of the earth. He made 3 points as to how salt provides flavor, salt preserves, and salt heals. The point that stuck out to me was how salt preserves. He spoke to us about how as salt of the earth we have a responsiblity of preserving that which is good, true, and right in our world. He complimented this with a verse out of Colossians. "Whatever you do, whether in word or in deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ." (Colossians 3:17)
For the last 12 years my favorite verse in the Bible has been Philippians 4:13 - "I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength." And now I think I've found my 2nd favorite verse in Colossians. The reason they are my favorite versus is because they really reflect how we should live as Christians and hopefully I have lived my life in accordance with these words. We are to strive to be like Christ and it is only through his love and power that we can do these things. Killer stuff huh?
