Pet Peeves

Everybody's got those pet peeves that just drive them crazy. Thought you might, or might not, be interested in mine. I'll put it in quote form for your viewing pleasure. I'm gonna put it out there and if you don't like it, send it right back.

1. A girl says, "I'm fat" (The Girl Insecurity Peeve)
2. "Yea I've been meaning to get to church, but I've just been so busy" (The High Priority Peeve)
3. "Well since it's summer I won't be at church until fall" (The God Takes Summers Off Peeve)
4. "I'll be there at 6 o'clock (but what I really mean is that I hope to leave by 6:15)" (The Always Late Peeve)
5. "The President doesn't have a clue what he is doing" (The Monday Morning President Peeve)
6. "I can't just MAKE my kid go" (The I Want to Be My Kid's Best Friend Peeve)
7. "We're too busy. My kid has basketball practice, band rehearsal, voice lessons, a 4-H project, homework, and scuba diving" (The Discovering My Calling Peeve)

OK, I'm sure there are many more...but I'll leave it at that. Got any pet peeves of your own?

well tood i agree with most of your pet peeves...other than the one about the girls saying "I'm fat"....it's just the way we are and we are just insecure about it....anyways, i have one two major pet peeves, but their not neccessarily quoted ones...i hate it when pants(that are intended to be long) are too short....they need to be almost touching the ground when u have shoes on with them....and i also hate wrinkled clothes...i dont mind sit down wrinkles(wrinkles that happen when u wear clothes)but i hate it when it looks like u picked it up off the floor and decided to wear it....but those are mine, not that it matters or that u needed to know....

Hey, I posted the why pray? comment some thime ago. Don't you ever think that by asking for something from an omnipotent being that you are actually insulting that being. If God knows what is best for you then won't it provide. Or not provide. So by praying, aren't you actually questioning God's way. You say that your life rests in the hands of God, but if that were so, wouldn't you just go with the flow. Not Pop culture flow. More like instincts and morality. You will never know what God has in mind for you, we are all incapable. So why not take matters into your own hands. Do as much of what is right as possible and enjoy that warm feeling, for that is your love of Good. Now what can Good do for you?
Just thinking, not trying to step on toes.

I personally know that when I pray I am not always asking for things. I pray to praise God and confess my sins, and even though he knows what we need, he still wants to hear from us. If someone is sick I pray for them so God knows I really care about that person and really want them to get well, but I also know that if they don't then it was God's will. He wants us to talk to him just like a friend who is right here with us. This is just my opinion, take it all how you wish.

You know what really peeves me? Replacing "Merry Christmas" with "happy holidays". Gag me!

Guess who?

Your list includes one of my pet peeves. Number five always annoys me. Anyway, I've got one pet peeve that I think you should have put in your list too (it's not quoted since I haven't got the talent for that): the eternally wet comfort room floor. The person who showers before you forgets to pull the shower curtains before he turns the knob.

For anon. about prayer . . .
Imagine God as a Father. We as children asked things of our parents - and I know we as parents love for our kids to ask us things - not so we can feel important, but so we can help them. Sure, they could go it on their own, but as the parent, you yearn to make things as easy as you can for you children. That's how I see God in my prayer life - as a Father who is there to help and guide me. He wants to be involved!

I agree with every one of those pet peeves. I have had one that is really bugging me. There is a guy at school in my weightlifting class that wears the same shorts every day. He never washes them! I think it is the "I'm too lazy to wash my shorts and they are too cool" peeve. By the way, his shorts smell TERRIBLE!
