A New Era

I am currently coaching a 14 year old baseball team this summer. We had our first game tonight and it was not pretty. We lost 10-5. Actually things weren't bad until we walked 3 guys in a row and then let 3 runs score in one play when we decided to play circus instead of baseball. This is a new experience for me. I've never head coached this or any age group in any sport before. I really do enjoy it. They are still young enough that they respect me and try to make the adjustments that I suggest to them. We've got a ways to go, but there is potential. I'll keep a running total of our scores and record. Tonight - Black Sox 10, Bandits 5 - Record 0-1.

One loss doth not a season make! I applaud you for stepping up and coaching the kids. It gets hard to find willing (and competent) coaches for kids when they reach this age level. Brian is 14 and is throwing in the low 80's. Trouble is, he's a little wild like your pitcher. He's had 14 strike outs in a game, along with 10 walks!!

Haha.....go Todd! They should get better- especially w/ you coaching. ;) If it makes you feel any better, my brother's team lost a lot worse than that their first game. Keep workin on it!
