Our First House Uh-Oh!

Well we had our first run-in with the house plumbing today. As the wife and I were heading out the door to make a run to Newton, there was a strong odor coming from the basement. As of late the misses has been complaining of a "pee" smell as well as "gurgling" in the kitchen sink. I really didn't think much of it until the other day when the "gurgling" seemed to be getting more frequent. Either way, there was a problem and it reared it's ugly head today. Seems like there is some type of back up in our drainage pipe(s). So the plumber is on his way, since I know nothing about plumbing, to help us out. Does homeowner's insurance or a home warranty cover anything like this? I hope so. Oh well, we had to have an Uh-Oh happen sooner or later.

P.S. - i hope your Good Friday doesn't stink like ours has so far.
