Some Random Thoughts

Recently my time has been taken up with reading for my master's course, finishing up the tiling project, working at the church, and of course being a husband. Since I figured that wasn't enough I have added another item to my schedule. I've accepted an invitation to be the play-by-play voice for the Bethany Swede football team this year. I know it will for sure be broadcasted on the internet, but not sure about local radio. I'll get you the link when I know more.

Because I've been so busy, I haven't had time to show you all an x-ray of what's been happening in the brain lately. So here's a few random thoughts I've had over the past month...

  • What do I really value? One of the big questions asked of leaders in the book Leadership Challenge was "What do you stand for? Why?" To actually sit down and think about this is tough. For me this could be a variety of things...true discipleship, authentic church, views of Christians, acceptance but not at the expense of truth, relationships. What do you stand for?
  • Possibilities for my future. God's got something very exciting planned for me. I have a few ideas on what it may be, but nothing is clear enough to share at this point. I don't know if it's to happen in the next year or the next decade, but something within me is expecting God to work in an incredible way in my life.
  • I like school...there...I said it. I can't believe I said it, but I said it. I like the readings, the discussion, and writing the papers. I'm very glad we don't have tests though. I'd take a 10 page paper over a pop quiz any day.
  • I love my wife!! Yep, she's the best. I've been a pretty crappy husband lately and she's put up with me. She's going to make a great mom some day....in God's timing.
  • Asceticism - I didn't know what this word meant a few weeks ago, but after reading Callings I have started feeling somewhat guilty for owning the things I do especially when I see how easily it hinders my relationship with God. Plus I think of all those who don't have ANYTHING. Asceticism - the trait of great self-denial (especially refraining from worldly pleasures)
  • two words - FANTASY FOOTBALL
