I realize I've been totally unproductive on this blog over the past few months other than letting you all know how the pregnancy is going...which I guess is not unproductive. However, I wish to collect some more of my thoughts in a more timely manner. So here's my attempt to get back in the saddle again.
I was recently given a book by a friend/mentor of mine that I feel may help me in my ministry at the church as I continue to grow into whatever it is God is calling me to be. (I've recently begun the candidacy process towards ordination as deacon. For those of you not in the UMC, it's basically a fancy way to say that I'm going to be ordained...not as a hard core pastor, but as a specialized minister in youth and young adult ministry) Anyways, the book is called The Present Future: Six Tough Questions for the Church by Reggie McNeal. I would like to do a chapter by chapter (don't worry, it's only made up of 6 core chapters) summary and analysis over the next few posts. I'm not going all Scot McKnight on you because, well, it's impossible for me. Instead, I'd like to do this one week at a time, which is perfect because I don't have class for the next six weeks.
Stay tuned...hold me accountable to this!!!

It's a good book. Lots of things by McNeal that make you think. We'll compare notes.
