Jewish Wedding - Bride Selection

Many of you are aware that in many cultures long ago and even today the father of the bride or groom would choose their offspring's spouse. No exception here for the tradition of the Jews in Jesus' time. The father of the groom had the important decision of whom to choose as the bride for his beloved son. The great analogy here is that God has hand picked us as the Church to be the bride for His one and only Son, Jesus. “You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name.” -John 15:16. Even better than being selected as the Bride of Christ is the fact that God created us specifically to be the Bride of Christ. “For He (God) chose us (the Church) in him (Jesus) before the creation of the world.” -Ephesians 1:4a. What an honor it is to have been created specifically and choosen by God to be the Bride of His Son Jesus.
